81st German Yearly Meeting - 2011

Dear readers,

yesterday we finished our 81st Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Germany and Austria.

I am feeling spiritually renewed, the theme was “Wahrhaftig Leben: Ent-täuscht und erhellt werden”.

Becoming authentic: Disillusionment and Enlightenment.

We also had several items on Israel and Palestine, e.g. Medical care in Gaza, kairos Document, EU funding in Palestine/Israel and indirect support of the occupation. Other discussion groups concentrated on subjects such as
- Quakers and sexuality,
- restorative circles
- Church and Peace
- being Authentic - what does it mean?
- our younger friends worked on theme of gossiping and speaking of people behind their backs.

We have fantastic weather, the autumn was blue-skied and sunny. We closed worship yesterday with a Irish blessing which we sang together
